METHODOLOGY

How the Hot Seat Meter works

The percentages belong to two separate 100% stages. First, VikesNow establishes a preseason baseline. Once games begin, a separate weekly performance signal is calculated and gradually replaces up to half of that baseline by Game 8.

STAGE 1Preseason baseline100%
50%Objective statistical model
50%Editorial and organizational context
Weekly results gradually enter the rating ↓
STAGE 2Weekly performance signal100%
70%Expected-win pace
30%Winning percentage
Final weekly blend: the preseason baseline remains at least 50% of the rating.Reliability = min(1, games ÷ 8)

Sources & methodology

Coach records, postseason history and weekly results are maintained in the VikesNow master dataset. Team logos are bundled locally for consistent rendering. Team names and marks belong to their respective organizations. VikesNow independently calculates the Hot Seat Meter.
