The 40 Most Important Vikings of 2026: No. 10 — Jordan Addison

VikesNow‘s countdown of the Top 40 most important Minnesota Vikings players has finally reached the Top 10, with wide receiver Jordan Addison kicking off the elite festivities.

Addison is eligible for a contract extension as early as now, and one mega year with Kyler Murray at quarterback could prompt him to earn north of $30 million per year via his next contract.

Why It’s Addison at No. 10

Addison’s Role in 2026

Addison has one job, as they say. He must continue his track as Robin to Justin Jefferson’s Batman, possibly accruing over 1,000 receiving yards for the first time and making the Vikings’ eventual decision to extend his stay a no-brainer.

“I’m being where my feet are. I’m just putting in work right now, going through camp, making sure I’m becoming a better receiver, and I feel like everything is going to take care of itself, work itself out,” Addison said three weeks ago about extension talks.

Jefferson remains the offensive centerpiece, but Addison’s speed and downfield ability should create stress opposite him. Jauan Jennings adds another physical target, freeing Addison for cleaner one-on-one opportunities. Murray’s arrival is a big deal, too. Murray has already shown he can furnish explosive receiving production in Arizona, and Addison should cook accordingly. After a quieter 2025, Minnesota needs Addison to become dangerous again.

He was not a major factor with J.J. McCarthy and Max Brosmer slinging the rock in 2025.

What Success Looks Like

A simple benchmark for success is 1,000 receiving yards. It’s easy to remember and a notable event for wide receivers. Addison has never had a problem scoring touchdowns – – he’s a redzone magnet. Ten touchdowns feels reasonable with Murray running the show.

He posted 911 yards and 10 touchdowns as a rookie, followed by 875 yards and nine scores in 2024, before slipping to 610 yards and three touchdowns last season. The talent is clearly there, and Minnesota has already exercised his fifth-year option for 2027.

What Could Make This Ranking Look Too Low – – or Too High

What if Addison fully turns the corner while staying healthy – – and out of trouble? Ay caramba. No. 10 could look too low if Addison turns Murray’s stability into the first monster season of his career.

Kevin O’Connell already views him among the league’s top No. 2 receivers, and a 1,000-yard campaign would make Addison indispensable beside Jefferson.

But the ranking could prove generous. Addison has never reached 1,000 yards. His production dropped sharply in 2025, and Jennings gives Minnesota another option.

On the financial side, life-changing money is also coming, with Addison’s fifth-year option worth $18 million in 2027. If his numbers remain modest, Minnesota could eventually question whether paying two receivers premium salaries is the smartest roster construction.

In fact, because of Jefferson’s superstar status, he can start talking to the Vikings’ brass about another extension next offseason. That’s when Addison’s contract talks will turn white-out as well. The 2027 offseason could be all about playmaker extensions. You’ve been warned.

VikesNow Verdict: A first 1,000-yard season with Murray could cement his place beside Jefferson – – and dramatically raise the price of keeping him there.
